evaluations

Natalee Herron is a 2023 SS with explosive speed and good lateral movement with good transition. Going backhand side, Nat is working on becoming more efficient with her glove work, and her rapid development helps. Offensively, Nat is generally a leadoff hitter because of her speed and ability to get on base. Smart on the bases, and leads her team in stolen bases as well. Overall, Nat is a smart kid with a high softball IQ who owns all of the intangibles any coach would want. She will fit well on any roster.

Natalee Herron is one of the most athletic softball players I have ever seen play the game. Natalee has been gifted with many of the tools needed to be a highly successful player at the college level. On the field offensively, Natalee is an weapon that can bunt or hit for average. Once on base, she has very good speed and a complete understanding of running the bases and putting herself in scoring position. Natalee has led her travel team in stolen bases the last 5 years. Her eye for the ball and speed allow her to bat leadoff, and this applies pressure to the defense constantly while she’s on base.

Defensively, Natalee’s primary position is shortstop. She has three major tools at this position – great range, a very strong arm and extremely good hand-eye coordination. Natalee can make deep backhand throws from short to first with ease. When not playing shortstop, Natalee pitches and can play any position on the field! She will continue to be tasked with becoming a more vocal leader as she assumes her role as team co-captain. Natalee’s biggest improvement offensively is understanding how to read the defense. She may lay a bunt down or hit a ball in the gap. Natalee’s biggest improvement defensively is using her range to roll back and catch shallow fly balls in the outfield. This allows her outfield to play deeper.

Natalee has been playing competitive softball since she was 9 years old. Natalee has a very deep understanding of the game and how it works. She enjoys practicing and working on improving her skills. Natalee loves to work hard and loves to win even more. Off the field, Natalee is an excellent student and is also a member of the Beta Club and Honor Roll. In closing, any college or university would be very impressed with Natalee’s work ethic and the amount of different tools she has as a softball player!

MESSAGE FROM NATALEE

I am Natalee Herron, a 2023 shortstop and pitcher from Saluda, SC. I play for Saluda High School and travel ball with the SC Fury. I started this past year (2019-2020) at shortstop as a freshman, while I play SS and pitch for my travel team. I love the game of softball. I am known on both my high school and travel teams for running and stealing bases. That makes me even more determined to get on base, so that I can then run them! I am a dedicated athlete who is willing to put in the hard work needed to become a better ball player. I also play high school volleyball and was selected All-Region last year.

School is extremely important to me, and I work just as hard at maintaining my grades as I do on the softball field. I am currently ranked 11th/152 in my class, with a weighted GPA of 4.53 (3.57 unweighted). I take honors and AP classes, while also serving as a member of the Beta Club and the National Honor Society.

When I’m not playing or practicing ball, I love spending time with my family and friends and attending church. I enjoy participating in service projects to help others. I have done the Saluda Serve project for three years, and I’ve also participated in Adopt-A-Highway and Special Olympics.

I have always loved playing softball, and I don’t really know what causes me to love this sport the way I do. When I get on a softball field, it makes me feel like I have nothing to worry about. I know in my heart this is what I love to do. Thanks for taking the time to consider me as a prospect for your program. I’m excited to learn more about your school soon!
