Shows athleticism behind the plate. Blocks well. Very accurate arm to any base. Quick feet. Jumps well and can get to bad pitches. Solid receiver and framer. Took catching lessons and practiced for hours at a young age. Aggressive and not afraid to take contact at plate. Working on arm strength by using weighted balls, watching videos and doing work at home. Versatile hitter. Bats right, left and slaps with her excellent speed. Naturally right-handed at plate. Leadoff hitter. Has a mechanically solid swing. Good load, hip turn and weight transfer, consistent swing, good pop in bat despite smaller size, squares up well. Drives outside and low pitches to the opposite field. Very driven to improve. High softball IQ. Does a ton of work on her own and studies herself and the game. Gives 100% effort. Plays like it’s the state title game every game. Leader (has taken leadership classes, led open gyms) and field general. Tough (once chipped her tooth and still played). Extremely bright, well-spoken and mature. 3.803 unweighted GPA with several AP/Honors/Advanced courses. 31 ACT. She is always working to get better and further her understanding of the game. She is a great teammate that leads by example. Defensively, she has a strong arm with quick footwork. She works with our pitchers to call her own game. She understands strengths and weaknesses of opposing batters and the pitching staff she handles. Numerous times she has killed opposing team rallies by throwing out would-be base stealers. Offensively, she makes good contact and has power to drive the gaps. She has great speed at the catcher position. Last club season, she led our team with 13 stolen bases. She hits anywhere in our lineup from 1-5. She has the speed to bat at the top but the ability to drive in runs to hit in the middle. Maddie is a very bright, athletic softball player that is going to excel at whatever she puts her mind too. Any program would be lucky to have her! — Mark Niedziejko, Whitnall Falcons Club 16U Coach  It is with great pleasure that I have the opportunity to write a letter of recommendation for Maddie Votsis. I was able to coach Maddie from 12U thru 14U on a select travel team.  Maddie is a very good athlete. Her enthusiasm, strong work ethic and dedication make her a natural leader on the team. Her hard work and willingness to learn is why she became one of my favorite players. She played the most difficult position and really solidified our team after deciding to play for us. I could rely on her, because she has a very high softball IQ along with the physical skills you hope for in a catcher. She is an adept blocker with a strong throwing arm.  I felt comfortable playing Maddie at any position, because I knew she could do it.  Additionally, she was our lead-off hitter and an aggressively smart baserunner. One of the things I admire about Maddie is her character. You could talk openly and honestly with her about the game. She gives honest feedback, which really made my job easier. I have actually brought Maddie in to work with my current catchers as she is smart and relatable. Maddie is an outstanding young lady who would be a benefit to any program she joins. Her work ethic and integrity would be an asset to any college team. — John Walker, former Head Coach/Assistant Head Coach Whitnall Falcons 12U & 14U

MESSAGE FROM MADDIE

My name is Madison Votsis, and I will be graduating with the class of 2021 from Greendale (Wisconsin) High School. Standing 5-foot-4 and weighing 120 pounds, I am primarily a catcher, but am also talented at the middle infield positions and am always willing to play wherever I am most needed for team success. My home to first time is 2.90 seconds, my pop is 1.88, and I batted .424 during my last club season. While taking an academically challenging class schedule, I have earned a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.803, translating to a cumulative (unofficial) weighted GPA of 3.99. I got a 31 on the ACT, and I have taken multiple AP, Honors and CAPP classes. I plan on majoring in sports management or business management in order to pursue my dream of eventually becoming an athletic director.  A defining trait of my athletic success has been my ability to pay attention to detail in order to hone my mechanics precisely and self-diagnose mistakes in the moment. I spend a great deal of time perfecting my mechanics and evaluating what works best for me in order to increase my success in all aspects of the sport I love. I am proud of my learned ability to quickly make the adjustments necessary for success on the next play, swing or rep during practice and games. I spend time each day practicing outside of my regularly scheduled practices and games and have set up a BowNet in the garage, so I can practice throwing, hitting off a tee, hitting soft toss, and performing catching drills on my own during the winter months. A motto I strive to follow is to lead by pulling, not pushing, in order to inspire others in my group to follow my example toward hard work and consistency.  Thank you very much for taking the time to view my profile, watch my videos, and read my personal essay. I would love to hear from you soon and look forward to the upcoming opportunities!
