2022 Kennedy Wenger is an exceptional 6-foot small forward. She has the ability to drive to the basket and finish under duress, while also confidently shooting the 3. Quick release with calm demeanor on the jump shot. Nice form with beautiful follow through. Boxes out and solidly powers up for rebounds, looking for a quick outlet and fast break. Hustles down the court. On the ready with off-the-ball defense and anticipates steals. Great hands, including her ball handling, and uses the Eurostep effectively. Great at blocking shots and deflecting the ball. Prevents opponents from scoring often without fouling. Physically intimidating with a 6-0 wingspan. Fights for loose balls. Effective defender against all 5 positions. High court IQ. An all-around athlete, Kennedy also excels in the 440-meter, high jump and plays on the volleyball team. Fast for her height, she can jump high and plays taller than 6-0. Kennedy also sports an excellent 3.97 GPA.

MESSAGE FROM KENNEDY
My name is Kennedy Wenger, and I attend Mater Dei H.S. in Evansville, Indiana. I am a 2022 graduate who stands 6-1 and weighs 158 pounds. Primarily I am a small forward, but I can also drop down low and post up. I maintain a 3.97 GPA, scored a 27 on the ACT and a 1230 on the SAT. My intended major is engineering, while I also have an interest in biology.
My mental toughness is something that often stands out to others. I am able to take criticism and work to make changes to help me grow as an athlete. I also think my flexibility on defense is something that sets me apart from others. I am eager to guard the opposing team’s best player and have the versatility to guard all five positions. I believe my work ethic is a major part of what sets me apart and has always been something that I have taken pride in. Nothing comes easily; hard work produces great results. I train by myself 2-3 times a week in the evening for 30+ minutes and push myself while doing it, whether it’s shooting, working on improving my speed or endurance. In the classroom, I am a very determined student. Mater Dei provides a number of high-level classes to its students. I am studying AP Biology while taking dual credit classes such as math 111, chemistry 261, history 101 and Spanish III Honors. I’ve been named to the honor roll each semester and am a member of the National Honors Society.
Outside of basketball, I also participate in volleyball and track. I am a member of the pep club, prom committee, and Mater Dei Dance Marathon for Riley Children’s Hospital. I balance a job lifeguarding at the YMCA throughout the entirety of the year. Through that job, I have completed several certifications: First Aid, AED, CPR, and oxygen. I serve my community by volunteering at the Tri-State Food Bank. This experience humbles me and reminds me to never take anything for granted. With all of these activities, I balance my schedule and remain organized. Thank you for your consideration and taking time to learn more about me, and I hope to speak with you soon.
