Would have been varsity catcher
5-foot-10, 175 pounds. C/1B. Big target at catcher or 1B. Athletic size. Strong arm (1.77 pop, 59 mph catcher). Athletic (also varsity basketball player). Aggressive at plate. Power swing (72 mph exit). Waits for pitch can hit. Smooth swing. Generates a lot of power with arms (working on getting more power from legs/hips). Hits to all fields. As a catcher, frames and works with pitchers very well. Throws from knees. Working on having a quicker throwing release and reading pitches better to know when to block. Also has experience at 1B. Keeps ball in front and reacts quickly to balls hit at her. Smart with knowing where to go with throws. Big target with 5-foot-10 size and ability to stretch. Leader on and off the field. Coachable. Strong work ethic (takes catching lessons, lifts weights at school, hits at home in garage). Good student (3.5 GPA).

MESSAGE FROM DELANEY
My name is Delaney Granger, and I am currently a 5-foot-10, 175-pound 2023 grad at Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, WI (3.5 GPA). My passion is softball and especially catching (1.77 pop, 59 mph), which I have been doing for the last 7 years. Along with playing softball, I play high school basketball and have played basketball since 4th grade. During my 2 years of high school basketball, I have played on both varsity and JV.
I have not always been the starting catcher or even on the best travel team; however, this has taught me resilience and made me work harder to prove everyone wrong. Not being selected to the best travel team really made me dedicated to improving myself as a catcher and teammate.
I believe I am a hard worker. My favorite quote is “The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.” During the basketball season, I would have a 2-hour practice, eat dinner and do homework in the car on the way to my catching or hitting lesson 1 hour away. In addition, I work a few hours every week at a local coffee and ice cream shop.
Along with being a varsity softball player, I am one of the player representatives on the SAAC (Student Athletics Advisory Committee). I was selected to represent my team and teammates on this school wide committee.
I hope to pursue a degree in kinesiology with aspirations to eventually be an athletic trainer or athletic director. I would welcome an opportunity to play softball at the collegiate level. I believe my strong work ethic in addition to my athletic and academic abilities would make me a good addition to your softball program.
